I’ve been banging on about pointless research for a while and the latest awards for pointless research were released last week. My own personal favourite was “Ultrasonic Velocity in Cheddar Cheese as Affected by Temperature” a study conducted by a group of spanish scientist and something I should bear in mind next time I make a cheese and marmite.

More importantly and factual is the fact that the most reliable temperature interval to carry out ultrasonic measurements in Cheddar cheese is identified as 0 to 17 °C.
