The Smiler

smiler.jpg

The smile drawn in pen and ink, the background is a photo I took of Paddington train station, it looks surprsingly evil now, more like the super lair of a super villian.

If you are in Coventry over the next few weeks then go along to the old tourist information centre to see “the urban lighthouse“, I’ve been working on the website for a while and there’s a few interactive things going up next week. The room will be filled with all sorts of art installations and there’s the opportunity for you to take part in some of the artwork.

There’s a map on the site to show you where it is and best of all its all free !

    I think it’s super.

Yes, Rob, a super pen-and-ink! And speaking of “The Three Bears,” (do you have that tale in the UK?) the caption to your sketch might be: “…the better to EAT you with, my dear!”

Oh, and you wrote, “Its a good job I am here to sort out these problems for you!” Very true! Now, if you’d just sort out the cost of buying and installing said Astroturf on my two-thirds-of-an-acre lot (and provide the funds) I’d think it a GREAT idea!

    Rob,

Wonderful! Thanks for the help. I’ll start the intsallation as soon as the Astroturf arrives.

(You DID see the parentheses above in which I wrote, “and provide the funds,” right?)

Lest my readers get totally confused (more so than usual) I put the answer below on my blog comments as well…

    “Rob,

In our version the wolf was a first cousin to Baby Bear. Or something like that. And I think the red-headed Riding Hood girl was somehow related to the blonde Goldilocks by marriage, but not by blood.

It all got confused when Jill and I fell down that damned hill after going up for a stupid bucket of water. I ended up with a broken crown, and my menory’s been scrambled ever since. My nickname was Jack, back then.

    Clear now?”

I forgot to mention that I also used to jump over candlesticks, before the crown-busting accident.

    P. S.

…and then there was that AWFUL beanstalk episode…
