Rain: Illustration Friday

rain.jpg
Digital painting for illustration friday rain topic. Completely drawn digitally except the raindrops which are a digital photo.
When I think of rain the first thing that came to mind was Harris Island. Harris is one of the islands in the outer hebrides off the west coast of Scotland. The beaches there have to be seen to believed, they are the best beaches I have ever seen anywhere in the world. Miles of sand and not a single person there, on a good day there’s no where better.

However it rains almost all of the time, which is why there’s no one there. I kind of like that though and even quite like being on the beach in the rain.

No bloody ice cream van though.

Very cool-love the lonely blue image, and the lone beachcomber. The rain doesn’t make for beach parties, but a kind beauty replaces that easily enough. Strong, beautiful piece, fine digital work!

You’re right about the beaches, wrong about the rain. More hours of sunshine on Hebridean islands than anywhere on the mainland. It’s just that when it rains, it can be ferocious!

There’s some pictures of beaches of the Outer Hebrides on my blog.

WOW. Very Magritte! Got any good links for pics of the beaches you mentioned? I saw an ‘Escape to the Country’ episode where people were moving from like Manchester to the outer Hebrides - and I remember thinking - THAT’S MY KIND OF PLACE! Desolate, beautiful, rugged, unspoiled - and best of all cold! (Sometimes I wonder what the hell I’m doing living in friggin Africa!).

    Hi Rob,

This looks very Sci Fi! I can almost imagine it being a scene from a Ray Bradbury book. Excellent and different as always.

Cool picture. I also checked out the pics of the Hebrides - pretty, but I prefer the Florida beaches with sparkling white sand and warm blue water!
