The Spheroids

I was trying to think of a theme for todays illustration and just couldn’t come up with anything so I drew a space hopper. This got me thinking about how I could fill the page up using only ovals as the basis for characters. They are a quite weird bunch of characters but I was actually quite pleased with how these turned out. It was also pretty good for the imagination trying to come up with new creature designs.

On a different note the common wealth games is on at the moment and I have been wondering why it is that countries actually spend money on being good at sport. Don’t get me wrong I like sport but what is the point in being good at swimming. If I was running the sports department of Great Britain I would take a different approach. We are mainly mediocre at sports or fairly bad, what we should do is specialise in producing the worst sportsmen/women. Everybody remembers Eddie the Eagle and Eric the Eel and their achievements in sport and we could have an entire team of them.

This would also I suspect be far cheaper to implement.

Fantastic stuff! Seeing how you have integrated all of your various arts and a blog to boot into one site has me inspired (and feeling e-schizo). So now I am re-inventing my idea of my web presence to consolodate all my work into one identity. You have shown me what is possible. Thanks! And thanks for visiting. You have excellent versitility and classic ideas.

Your comment reminded me of some gaffes I’ve seen on job applications and resumes (yes, I know what a CV is — my education included some latin). One good (?) example: a young man was describing his military experience, and on the blank asking for “Type of discharge” wrote, “horrible.” Don’t know to this day if he meant “honorable,” or was describing a medical problem.
