The beach

Had an utterly stupidly busy weekend and also a minor disaster. Finished a set of ATC’s, half of another oil portrait a small oil painting and this beach scene. This was from one of my photos taken back in January in Padstow, the sky looked nothing likein this painting.

I’m really enjoying doing water colouring again, after years of hating watercolours I’ve kind of found a way of using them that actually works. The background was just a few washes of different sky like colours. I then used some crunched up bog roll to add a bit of randomness then just flicked a load of paint on. Does the job.

The disaster of the weekend was that I destroyed £500 worth of carpet. I accidentally stepped on my oil palette and then walked down stairs. It looked like bigfoot had been walking through the house ! Opps.

On a different note I was really happy this weekend as I finally saw a woodpecker while out cycling.

Just tell Mrs. Robot that your effort with the carpet is the next big thing in post-modernism. Back up your statement by obtaining an application form for entrance into the Turner Prize. She’ll soon come round to your way of thinking…..

Good idea Vigs, unfortunately she has been after me to replace the manky carpet with wood for about 3 years.

Now I finally have to conceed defeat.

And did the woodpecker have a new bike?

er not that I saw… He was up at the top of a tree. It may have just been a unicycle.

My wife saw that advert where the woman pulls all the carpets and the ironing away leaving a bare wood floor.

“See?” she says, “wood floors do look nice.”

“Not ours” I said, knowing what horrors lurked beneath.

    In regards to the carpet,
like stretch marks during pregnancy - a small price to pay for something great to be birthed.
    Just kidding.

So really you just did your wife a favor by destroying the carpet?

    Beautiful watercolouring. :)

Watercolour has got to be my favourite colour medium. Admire those who can use it well. :)
