Crows in Dead Trees

Firstly here’s some more crow ATC cards, loads of people seemed to like the tree one last time so I’ve done a whole series of crows and dead trees.
I keep coming across these “ways to be creative guides” dotted all round mainly art based sites. A lot of what they say I disagree with, they’re mostly banging on about how things take time and that you have to spend hours of hard work to do something great, I don’t think you do.
Take golf for example, I have played golf about 5 times, a totally useless golfer. On any given day I could hit maybe 1 golf ball out of 500 better than tiger woods and he’s regarded as the best golfer on the planet. What makes him a better golfer than me, well he has some natural talent but most importantly golf is what he enjoys doing. Golf isn’t a chore to him, he loves playing golf. I enjoy painting or drawing or doing computer artwork, its not hard work I enjoy it. If you need a guide to tell you how to be creative I think you’ve kind of missing the point. Its the same as those books on “how to be a writer”, its not hard just pick up a pen and write, anyone can do it, but only those who really enjoy it will actually stick at it.
Incidentally there’s plenty of examples where experts have produced their best work at the first attempt, just look at films, Taxi Driver for Scorcese was one of his earliest films and I’d argue it was his best. Same with 2001 for Stanley Kubrick, Reservoir Dogs for Quentin Tarrantino.
Also as pointed out by Sniv, when Orson Wells made Citizen Kane, possibly the best film of all time it was his first attempt at film making.

Nothing to do with you is it?

Very cool pics. I especially like the one at top right. The crow is looking right, and the tree is leaning right, and it makes you want to see what’s over to the right.

Awesome paintings.
I agree with your thoughts and I shall add “it is your love and passion for that thing you are doing that matters at the end of the day”.
