Flaming Zombooka 3 : Carnival

Flaming Zombooka Carnival, this time it’s circus based zombie blasting, I’m sure we said we’d never make another zombooka game after the first 3 but somehow I ended up spending most of last month doing more levels artwork and design on Zombooka 3 Carnival.

The whole idea this time was a circus which had been taken over by zombies and turned clowns into zombies, the main reason for going down the circus theme was because it just seemed quite funny. Also there was quite a good opportunity for a lot of comedy violence, the whole series although being quite gruesome we have tried to stay on the side of cartoon violence rather than being overly realistic.

It was nice to be doing another one from an art point of view as I finally had the opportunity to give it a bit of a facelift and improve a lot of the artwork. Barry Zooka the main character we did in a new way where he can properly aim rather than just pivoting around his waist, which looks a lot better, it was also great to be able to introduce new characters and use some of the character switching code from soccerballs/basketballs. Zombooka obviously shares a lot of code with those 2 other games.

Is this the last Zombooka ? Hurm…. I said that after the level pack as that really didn’t go down that well, but giving the game a fresher theme and new stuff really did breathe a bit more life into it. We’ll probably end up giving the game another outing but probably not for quite some time. People do just seem to love blowing up those zombies though !
